Tester agreement and privacy

This is an agreement between you and Price Goat ("Price Goat", "we", "us"), the makers of the Price Goat app. Please read it, especially section 14, which says disputes are settled by individual arbitration instead of in court. Checking the box and continuing means you agree to it.

1. Who can test

You must be at least 18 years old and have an invite to test Price Goat. Your account is for you only. Please don't share your invite code, your account or copies of the app.

2. This is a test version

Price Goat is unfinished. Some prices, products, sizes, stores or screens will be wrong, slow or missing, and features may change, stop working or be removed at any time. We may update the app, pause it, or end the test.

3. Prices and stores

Price Goat does not sell anything. We are not part of, and not endorsed by, any store shown in the app. Prices, sizes, stock and deals come from store websites and can be wrong or out of date. Always check the price and details on the store's own site or shelf before you buy. Your purchases are between you and the store.

4. How searching works

Price Goat checks store websites from your computer, in the background, using your own internet connection. Use it for your own personal shopping, not to copy or resell store data. A store may slow down or limit connections it doesn't like; if that happens, Price Goat skips that store for a while. The optional Chrome extension works the same way.

5. Your feedback

The most helpful thing you can do is tell us when something is wrong: use the flag on a result, or "Report a problem". You agree that we may use your flags, reports and suggestions to fix and improve Price Goat, without paying you or owing you anything for them.

6. Thank you, and Founder perks

As a thank-you for testing, as long as Price Goat is running, the account you test with keeps full access to Price Goat's features, including features that later need a paid plan, at no cost to you, and receives Founder perks as the app grows. Which Founder perks are offered, and when, is up to Price Goat. Founder access belongs to that account only: it can't be sold or transferred, and it ends if the account is deleted or is closed for breaking this agreement.

7. Using Price Goat fairly

Don't copy, sell, take apart or change the app; don't try to get around its security or the limits of any store's website; don't use it to break the law or harm others. In the Barnyard community, be decent: no harassment, hate, spam, scams or illegal content. We may remove posts and suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

Price Goat, including its code, its AI, its name and its logos, belongs to us. This agreement lets you use the app; it doesn't give you ownership of any part of it.

Points, tiers, secrets, the product of the week and the leaderboard are for fun. They have no cash value and can't be sold, traded or transferred. We may change how they work, correct mistakes, and remove points gained by cheating or by getting around how the app is meant to work.

8. What we collect and why (privacy notice)

• Account: your name, email address, ZIP code and invite code. Your password is stored only in scrambled (hashed) form by our accounts provider; we never see it.
• App use: your searches and their results, which stores worked or failed, errors and crashes, your app settings, and what Price Goat's AI learned from your searches.
• Things you send: problem reports, flags, messages, and a picture of the Price Goat window if you choose to attach one.
• Your lists: wishlist items, grocery lists and price alerts.
• Community: what you post, comment and yell in the Barnyard, which other users can see.
• Leaderboard: your username, points and tier, and any secrets you find, which other users can see. Pick a username that isn't your real name if you'd rather stay anonymous.
• A record that you accepted this agreement: your account, email address, the version and the date.
• The Chrome extension (optional): to read prices, Chrome gives the extension permission to read and change data on websites. Price Goat only collects product and price information from the store pages it opens itself. It does not collect or send anything from your other tabs, such as your email or bank.

We use this to run Price Goat, send your sign-up codes and price alerts, fix problems, make the app's matching smarter, and contact you about testing. We do not sell your information and do not use it for outside advertising.

We do not collect your browsing outside Price Goat, your other passwords, or your files. We don't keep your IP address in Price Goat's own records, but our service providers keep standard connection logs, which include IP addresses, for security.

We use service providers to run Price Goat, including Supabase (accounts and data) and Brevo (email). They handle your information only to provide their service to us. We may share information if the law requires it, or to protect people or Price Goat from harm or fraud.

9. Deleting your account

You can stop testing any time: uninstall Price Goat from Windows Settings > Apps, and remove the extension from Chrome. You can delete your account yourself in Account settings > Delete my account. That deletes your account, profile, wishlist, lists and price alerts. We keep the record that you accepted this agreement, as proof of the agreement. Logs and reports already sent are kept to fix the app, and are no longer connected to your name or email. Posts and comments you made in the Barnyard stay, shown as written by "Deleted user" and no longer connected to your name or email; if you want them gone, delete them before you delete your account. 10. No guarantees

Price Goat is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises or warranties of any kind, including that it is accurate, reliable, available, or fit for any purpose.

11. Limits on our responsibility

To the fullest extent the law allows, Price Goat and the people who make it are not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost money, savings, time or data, that come from using or not being able to use Price Goat, including buying something based on a price shown in the app. If we are found responsible for anything anyway, the most we owe you in total is $50.

12. Changes to this agreement

We may update this agreement. When we do, the app will show you the new version, and you'll need to agree to it to keep testing. If you don't agree, you can stop and delete your account.

13. The rest

If part of this agreement can't be enforced, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a part right away doesn't mean we give it up. This is the whole agreement about testing Price Goat. Checking the box is your electronic signature and counts the same as signing on paper.

14. Settling disputes: individual arbitration, no class actions

Please read this section carefully. It affects your legal rights.

• Talk to us first. Before starting any claim, email support@thepricegoat.com with your name and what's wrong, and give us 60 days to try to sort it out.
• Arbitration instead of court. If we can't sort it out, you and Price Goat agree that any dispute about Price Goat or this agreement will be decided by a neutral arbitrator in binding, individual arbitration, not by a judge or jury. This means you and Price Goat are both giving up the right to sue in court and the right to a jury trial. The arbitration will be run by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, which limit the fees you pay, and it can be held by phone or video.
• Small claims court. Either of us may instead bring an individual claim in small claims court, if it qualifies.
• No class actions. Claims can only be brought by you or us individually, not as a plaintiff or member of any class, group or representative action, and an arbitrator may not combine different people's claims. If this no-class-action promise is found unenforceable for a claim, that claim must go to court instead of arbitration.
• 30-day opt-out. You can opt out of this section by emailing support@thepricegoat.com within 30 days of first agreeing, with your name, your account email and a sentence saying you opt out of arbitration. Opting out doesn't change anything else in this agreement.
• This section keeps applying after you stop testing or delete your account.

15. Which laws apply

This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey and by United States federal law, including the Federal Arbitration Act, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any court case allowed by this agreement will be in the state or federal courts located in New Jersey, except that a small claims case may be brought in your local small claims court.
